The Team
June MacDonald-Jenkins, Administrator/CAO

June MacDonald-Jenkins RN BScN MSc. has been a healthcare professional for over 30 years, most recently working in the consulting and post-secondary education sector. Committed to health and community workforce development, she is a collaborative leader dedicated to creating a sense of belonging for everyone and ensuring a safe environment to live, learn, and work through her person-centred approach.
June is an accomplished author, researcher, and administrator with a proven track record of securing over $2.4 million in federal and provincial funding for applied research in health, public safety, and education. With extensive experience in both academia and academic administration, June has taught, led, and practiced actively in her profession.
June began her journey with a nursing diploma from the Halifax Infirmary, followed by a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from Laurentian University and a Master of Nursing from McMaster University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing at the University of Toronto.
Throughout her career, June has spearheaded numerous social innovation initiatives in the health and justice sectors. Notably, she served as the inaugural Dean of Police Education and Innovation for the Durham Regional Police Service and launched the Centre of Social Innovation at Humber College.
With over 22 years of experience in post-secondary education, including the last 10 years in senior administrative leadership, June has led business unit and faculty-wide organizational reviews to ensure the sustainability of programming and continuity of business practices. She is a recognized leader in hybrid program development and a national award-winning educator.
June serves as a nursing degree program reviewer for the province of Ontario and an accreditation development specialist for health and community services programming. She sits on several provincial and national committees dedicated to enhancing public safety through the health, community, and social services sectors.
June is excited to return home to Nova Scotia to start her role at East Cumberland Lodge. She looks forward to engaging with community members, leaders, and volunteers who support the residents and staff of ECL.
Stephanie Tannahill, Director of Resident Care

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 2018, from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has been fortunate enough to spend her nursing career thus far in long term care. Stephanie has a passion for providing compassionate quality care to the geriatric population.
Stephanie became Director of Resident Care at East Cumberland Lodge in August, 2022. Prior to joining the ECL team, Stephanie was a unit manager at Gables Lodge LTC Facility.
Jennifer Jamieson, Assistant Director of Resident Care

Jennifer graduated from A.J. MacMaster School of Nursing in 1990. She has performed many roles at ECL including CCA, RN, Director of Resident Care, and is currently the Assistant Director of Resident Care.
Gayle Boudreau, Director of Food Service and Maintenance

Gayle has worked at ECL since 1988. In 1998 she took over Food Service and Maintenance, including EMO Co-Ordinator. She is a Certified Journeyman Cook and her goal is to serve nutritional homecooked meals and provide residents with a safe, home-like atmosphere.
Kevin Strathearn, Director of Environmental Services

Kevin had a successful career in manufacturing for over 40 years, and decided it was time for a change. He accepted a position with ECL in September of 2020 and is very happy to have made the move. Along with the caring staff, he finds it very gratifying and rewarding be able to contribute to helping the residents have a comfortable home.
Jill Blaikie, Director of Recreation

Jill grew up in Pugwash and her and her family have resided in Wallace since 1996. She completed her Bachelor of Recreation degree from Dalhousie University in 1994 and has worked in long term care since 2006. It is her mission to bring meaningful leisure programs to people of all ages and abilities. She was thrilled to become part of the ECL team in 2017.
Heather Spicer, Director of Finance

Heather has been involved in the business world for 30 years. She is also a Continuing Care Assistant, and has worked as a CCA at East Cumberland Lodge as well as with VON. She returned to East Cumberland Lodge in 2022 as the Director of Finance.
Barbara Tower, Executive Assistant
Barb has been in the Administrative field for 30 years and has a health administrative background. Barb graduated from the NSCC Continuing Care Assistant program in 2016 . She worked as a CCA between administrative positions. Barb has been with ECL in the Administrative Assistant role since 2018.
Charlotte Harrison, Scheduler
Charlotte is currently the Scheduling Clerk here at East Cumberland Lodge. She has held this position since 2019 when she joined the team. A proud graduate of Oulton College where she studied Business Accounting. Before turning her attention to the accounting field, she worked in the administration field for a few years. She also studied at Nova Scotia Community College where she took the Office Administration Information Management and Office Information Technology.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Chair – Jerry Langille
Jerry is a Lawyer by profession, currently retired. He has been associated with East Cumberland Lodge for many years, having family members who have lived at ECL and both of his two children worked at East Cumberland Lodge while completing their education. His legal background, as well as experience on other boards and committees is an asset to the Board, the community, and East Cumberland Lodge.
